    Gregoria Montoya y Patricio was a Filipina revolutionary who fought during the Philippine Revolution. To avenge her husband, also a revolutionary who died during the Revolution, Montoya led a 30-member unit of the Katipunan with “a bolo on one hand and the Katipunan flag in the other” at the Battle of Binakayan-Dalahican. She was killed during the battle, but her leadership led to a vindicated Filipino victory.

    Gregoria Montoya y Patricio (1863-1896)

    She was born in Kawit, Cavite on November 6, 1863. Her parents Atanacio Montoya and Jacoba Patricio were both peasants. Consequently, Montoyo {Montoya} was accustomed to hard work. She was first married to a Chinese mestizo named Cirilo Ayson to whom she had kvartet sons. Her husband died six years after they were married. She igen found love in a man named Pedro Cacpal five years after the death of her husband.

    Cacpal was killed during the battle and she fought the Spaniards to the death to avenge him. She was a trusted commander in Emilio Aguinaldo's army and she undertook some delicate missions for him. Montoyo {Montoya} was said to have posthumously promoted bygd Aguinaldo to the rank of general but historians have failed to c
