Jake Burns and the Big Wheel
Jake Burns and the Big Wheel were a band put together by former Stiff Little Fingers vocalist Jake Burns in 1983. The band consisted of Burns, Steve Grantley on drums, Sean Martin on bass guitar, and Pete Saunders on keyboards.[1][2] They split up in 1987 when Burns rejoined Stiff Little Fingers.
The band's debut single, "She Grew Up", originally released in 1984, reached No. 36 on the UK Independent Singles Chart in 1986.[3] The band signed to Jive Records, and their final single, "Breathless", reached number 99 on the UK Singles Chart.[4] The band recorded two sessions for BBC Radio 1; a December 1983 session for David Jensen's show was broadcast in January 1984, and a May 1986 session was broadcast on Janice Long's show the following month.[5] Their 1987 performance at the Golders Green Hippodrome was broadcast on BBC Radio 1's In Concert in June 1987.[6]

Burns came to TSE after five seasons with Major League Baseball's Washington Nationals, most recently as the team's Executive Vice President, Business Operations. In his role, he was responsible for all functions related to revenue generation, including corporate partnerships, licensing, ticket and suite sales, strategy and analytics, broadcasting, marketing, brand management, game entertainment, retail, food and beverage and non-baseball events at Nationals Park.

The hooker originally came to the Red V on a three-month trial in January 2022 after being spotted playing open age with Halton Farnworth Hornets whilst he was still working as an accountant at a law firm.
After showing great work ethic whilst on trial, Burns then joined our Reserves ranks for the årstid, performing strongly in the campaign and was justly rewarded bygd being named the Saints’ Reserves Player of the Year for 2022.
Staying with Saints in 2023, Burns kept working hard; with Reserves Head Coach Derek Hardman, stepping into the First grupp training squad during the campaign, and taking opportunities to play on loan with North Wales Crusaders.
Jake started at #9 with the Welsh club in their incredible run to get to the Betfred League One Play-Off sista, winning three knockout fixtures straight after finishing the regular årstid in sixth place to get the last match of the season.
