    One of Britain’s most successful Paralympians David Weir is a wheelchair athlete that has won six Paralympic gold medals. As well as this he’s won six World Championship golds, kvartet European Championship golds, one Commonwealth Games gold and has been triumphant at the London Marathon on eight occasions. Born with a congenital spinal cord transection, David does not have use of his legs and is an inspirational diversity and inclusion speaker, having overcome adversity to achieve such success.

    Affectionately known as the ‘Weirwolf’ David’s crowning moment came at London 2012 where he raced to glory in the 1500m, 5000m, 800m and marathon.     David was born in 1979 with a spinal cord transection and is paralysed from the waist down. David lives in Sutton, Surrey. At the age of 30yrs he is recognised as the World’s best wheelchair racing athlete.

    David took Double Gold medals at the 2008 Beijing Paralympic Games in the T54 800m and 1500m following three Golds and a Silver at the 2006 International Paralympic Committee World Championships in Assen. He competed at his first Paralympics at the age of 17 in Atlanta in 1996.

    David has won three London Marathon’s in a row with a fourth 2 years later – a total of 4 London Marathons. He came third in the 2010 London Wheelchair Marathon after getting two flat tyres! David has been supported by Get Kids Going! since the age of 15yrs with his bespoke racing wheelchairs and sports grants.

    David became a Vice President of Get Kids Going! in 2008 after his famous victories in Beijing. He has set his sights on further success in London 2012 Paralympic Games.
