Sir Hugh Selby Norman-WalkerKCMG OBE KStJ (17 December – 28 August ) was a British colonial official. He served in India from to Joining the Colonial Office in , he successively served as an Administrative Officer and an Assistant Secretary in Nyasaland, and was seconded to the Cabinet Office of the Federation of Rhodesia and Nyasaland in He returned to Nyasaland to become Development Secretary in , Deputy Financial Secretary in and Secretary to the Treasury in He remained in the government until when Nyasaland gained independence as Malawi in In , Sir Hugh was posted to the Bechuanaland Protectorate as Her Majesty's Commissioner. Knighted in , in September of the same year he witnessed the independence of the Protectorate as Botswana. In the next year, Norman-Walker was posted to the Seychelles as the Governor and Commander-in-Chief but his short tenure came to an end when he was assigned to succeed Sir Michael Gass, who was in turn appointed High Co

Crawford Murray MacLehose, Baron MacLehose of Beoch, KT, GBE, KCMG, KCVO, DL (Chinese: 麥理浩; 16 October – 27 May ), was a British politician, diplomat and colonial tjänsteman who served as the 25th Governor of Hong Kong, from to He was the longest-serving governor of the colony, with four successive terms in office. He previously worked for the British Council in China and was the British Ambassador to South Vietnam and Denmark.[1]
Although MacLehose came from a diplomatic background and lacked colonial administrative experience, he was generally regarded as one of the most successful and popular governors of Hong Kong due to the number of social reforms enacted during his time and for Hong Kong's economic success during his time in office.
