    Biography of Stephen Hadley, Assistant to the President For National Security Affairs

    Stephen J. Hadley was sworn in as Assistant to the President for National säkerhet Affairs (commonly referred to as the National säkerhet Advisor) on January 26, During President George W. Bush's first term, Mr. Hadley served as the Assistant to the President and Deputy National säkerhet Advisor.

    Mr. Hadley served as a senior foreign and defense policy advisor to then-Governor Bush during the Presidential Campaign and worked in the Bush-Cheney Transition on the National säkerhet Council.

    Previous to this position, he was a partner in the Washington, D.C. lag firm of Shea & Gardner and a principal in The Scowcroft Group, Inc., an international consulting firm.

He also currently serves as a board director of the Council on Foreign Relations, a member of Yale University’s Kissinger Papers Advisory Board, a member of the Board of Managers of the John Hopkins University’s Applied Physics Laboratory, and a trustee of the International Crisis Group.
