They had recently married and were staying in Mexico with the English composer Leslie Bricusse. ‘We were heading off to our room when I saw a coral snake on the wall,’ she says. 

‘They’re apparently the deadliest snakes in the world, so I started screaming and George ran off to our room. I was still screaming ten minutes later when George finally emerged, dressed in a hunter’s outfit. He’d put on an outfit to kill the snake!
