  • Elmore James (1918-1963) has been called "the most influential slide guitarist of the postwar period....Others may have had more technique....but Elmore had the sound and all the feeling."[1] His early death from heart failure prevented him from reaping the benefits of the mid to late 60s blues revival, when this music was rediscovered by a host of high profil artists such as Eric Clapton, Fleetwood Mac and John Mayall.     Elmore (Brooks) James is Notable.

    Elmore James was an American blues guitarist, singer, songwriter and bandleader. He was known as "King of the Slide Guitar" and was noted for his use of loud amplification and his stirring voice. For his contributions to music, he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1992.[1]

    Elmore James was born in 1918. He was the son of Joe James and Leara Brooks.
