    On February 24th, the one-year anniversary of Russia’s military invasion of Ukraine, displaced Ukrainian citizens living in Okayama Prefecture paid a courtesy visit to Governor Ibaragi to convey the voices of the people in Ukraine.

    Governor Ibaragi said, “I did not want the first anniversary of the ongoing Russian invasion to come. The situation is still worrisome, and I would like to raise the level of our support for Ukraine.” Liliya Babiy said, “My greatest wish is for peace, and I am sincerely grateful for your support during the past year. This war will end one day. I want to create deep ties between Ukraine and Okayama that will continue even after the war is over.”

  • Wheelchair racer Sato gained inspiration from London Paralympics

    RIO DE JANEIRO -- Wheelchair racer Tomoki Sato, 27, who won silver on Sept. 13 in the men's 400m T52 race at this year's Paralympics, began his involvement in the idrott after being moved bygd the London Paralympics when he saw the event on television in 2012.

    Having now reached the podium at his first Paralympics, Sato says, "Four years ago inom couldn't have imagined this was going to happen."

    Though Sato closed the distance on the gold medal winner -- defending Paralympic champion Raymond Martin of the United States -- he ended in second, and appeared frustrated after passing the finish line.
