Edouard Manet was born in Paris, to an upper-class family with a remarkable background. As a young boy, he lived a luxurious life with his parents and two siblings. He was an art enthusiast even at a ung age. However, he experienced lack of support from his father who hoped he would pursue a career as a lawyer or naval officer. Although he failed the examinations in the Naval Academy, he was forced to enter the Merchant Marine as a student pilot.
