He felt it would be helpful for people to have a visual depiction of when the important events took place in Acts, the dates and locations of Paul’s travels, and when and where Paul’s letters were written. I thought John had a tremendous idea.

    2. Paul: An Outline of His Life David L. Eastman Mapping out the chronology of the life of the apostle Paul remains one of the enduring puzzles in New Testament studies. The number of proposed chronologies, even over just the past half-century, is impressive.1 This is welltilled ground, yet it is ground that continues to demand the attention of Pauline scholars. What is at stake is not just the chronology per se, but also related issues such as the date and place of composition of the epistles, the attempt to establish the development of Pauline thought over time, the usefulness (or lack thereof) of the material in Acts, and the authenticity (or lack thereof) of material in the disputed letters, such as the facts concerning the end of Paul’s lifeέ 2 As we will see, however, a definitive Pauline chronology is impeded by challenges at every turn, particularly the problem of establishing the sources and the relative dearth of fixed data points.
